photography and musings by an amateur photographer aspiring to be more
Across the River.
This is why I love living in Portsmouth, NH. This is a view from across the Piscataqua river, looking at downtown Portsmouth.
When I first got a job in Portsmouth, I was very skeptical that I would enjoy living in the area. Mainly because of the stigma we Massholes attribute to New Hampshire. However, the first night I walked around downtown, I knew it was hidden gem. Over time, that feeling has been consistent: It's got great food, great nightlife, open minded people and a great overall old European aesthetic. An article in the New York Times recently agreed. What I think I love best is that the atmosphere feels like a tiny, less crowded version of Harvard Square in Boston. With much cheaper rent and less homeless people ;)
If you've never visited, give it a try and I bet you'll love it.
